PagePocket — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 23, 2026
Short version: PagePocket stores everything you save
— text, images, screenshots, notes, tags — only on your own device,
inside your browser. Nothing you save is ever sent to us or to any
third party. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics.
What PagePocket does
PagePocket is a Chrome extension that lets you save text selections,
full-page article content, images, screenshots, and quick notes from
web pages you visit, and revisit them later. All of this happens
locally in your browser.
What data is collected
PagePocket only stores content you explicitly choose to save:
- Text you select and save, or the extracted main text of a page you choose to save
- Image URLs or screenshot images you capture
- The title, URL, domain, and favicon of the page a clip came from
- Notes, tags, and collections you add to a clip
- Your interface preferences (e.g. theme, panel mode)
This data is stored using your browser's local storage
(chrome.storage.local) and local IndexedDB, both scoped
to your own device and your own browser profile.
What PagePocket does not do
- No account, sign-up, or login of any kind
- No data is ever transmitted to any server — PagePocket has no backend
- No analytics, tracking, or telemetry
- No sale or sharing of data with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers
- No automatic collection of your general browsing history — only the specific pages you choose to save
- No use of AI services or external APIs
Permissions PagePocket requests, and why
- contextMenus — to add "Save to PagePocket" options to the right-click menu
- storage — to save your clips and preferences locally
- activeTab / tabs — to read the title/URL of the tab you're saving from, and to open a saved page later
- scripting — to read a text selection or extract a page's main content, only when you trigger a save
- downloads — to let you export/import your saved clips as a local JSON file
- sidePanel — to optionally show PagePocket in Chrome's Side Panel instead of the popup
- Host access (all sites) — needed because you can choose to save content from any website; content is only read when you explicitly trigger a save
Your data, your control
You can export all your data as a JSON file, delete individual clips,
or clear all data at any time from the extension's Settings page.
Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
